A Winter Warm Home

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means that those of us who own a piece of real estate in PA are now preparing our homes for the winter season. And while it’s important to make sure all things on the outside of your Pittsburgh housing are secure and safe for the oncoming winter, it’s just as important to remember the inside of your home. After all, in just a few weeks Marshall Township’s autumn will have turned to winter, and it’s necessary that your home keeps that warm welcoming feel. That’s why we here at Venango Trails have created a list of how to decorate your home for the winter season.

Winter Warm Home

1. Furniture. The coldest areas in a home are always the windows and walls. In an effort to keep your home warm and welcoming, it’s a good idea to move your furniture away from the walls and closer to each the fireplace or television. This provides for a nice personal family feel that is both warm and welcoming!

2. Color Pallette. An important aspect of a warm and welcoming home is the color palette. In the winter time, a few great color choices include reds, yellows, oranges, browns and even greens. These colors will help to warm up any home that is feeling the chill of winter!

3. Blankets. Preparing your home for winter involves making your home feel cozy. Layering blankets, whether it be on couches, beds or even chairs, is a great way to add that extra bit of comfort to your winter home. In fact, one great and creative way to keep your kitchen feeling cozy and warm is to replace your table throw with two blankets. One that is long and touches the floor and another smaller one to place over that.

4. Candles. A great way to warm up the feel of your home is candles! Placing candles on mantle places, kitchen tables, countertops and chests will ensure an aura of warmth throughout your home this winter season. And if you have a fireplace that is no longer in use, placing an array of candles inside the fireplace is a spectacular way to decorate and keep things cozy.

5. Foliage and Fruits. An easy way to keep your home smelling fresh and feeling welcoming is foliage and fruit. Evergreen foliage is not just for the holidays, but is the plant and smell of the season. Adding fruit to a display of evergreen foliage will help keep your home feel fresh, lively and warm throughout the harsh winter!
